Tecnica Shoes

Back from a day long of trail running and a good hot water bath I slipped into my PacMoc aftersport. I was tired and wanted something to soothe my feet, the brushed nylon lining and flexible flat rubber outsole engulfed my feet caressing them as softly as possible. I could sense the softness of footbed as heels and balls of my forefeet rested upon them. The warmth increased by a bit but for a little while as I had stepped in directly from my bath. The light weight nylon mesh took care of controlling it to normalcy as a physician would want it.

A little while later I had to prepare for the morning’s river canoeing, of course down the stream, and camp there. This was my first expedition, naturally I was a bit too nervous and probably it showed on my face when I went to pack my Torrent trail and water shoes ahead of backpacking. My apprehension was out of my imagination about jittery due to wetness in the feet through the day tomorrow although I was told about these sandal-like shoes that would work fine for river rafting and canoeing. To add to it, it was only I who had Tecnica, which was another concern.

The river was Macal in western Belize and wasn’t all that rough. But at times getting out and carrying the canoe over low base water couldn’t be avoided, which I could only make it, thanks to good grip the shoes displayed over slippery river rocks. I think it was more due to the slip resisting outsole texture. Water gushed out of the shoes once we were back on the canoe and dried off quickly than I feared. Now, I guess why my friends were smiling last night when I rushed to pack my shoes first.

I know canoeing is my first experience but skiing isn’t although I don’t go to the extreme of claiming that North Face is my second home. Whenever I set off on skiing, I always made sure I had packed my favorite Moonboots from Apres ski collection as I had always overstayed for a trek. My favorite all along has been the Shearling which filled me with the feeling of walking on sheer luxury of pure sheep leather filled with wool. This apart, the freedom to choose your own fit with long and cross lacing option was enough for me

I recommend following Tecnica shoes although I haven’t used all of them myself but out of the confidence of having used at least a few of them.
