DC Shoes Clothing
When it comes to hip, colorful and original skate shoes,
it doesn’t get much better than DC. But the company known for churning
out pair after pair of fresh, sturdy shoes is more than a one-trick circus. DC Shoes Clothing Company also offers plenty of comfortable,
fun urban apparel that isn’t hard to pull off and feels good to
slip on. From beanies to jeans and shirts to shorts with custom silicone bracelets stuffed inside, DC will get you fitted
for a day at the skate-park or in the classroom.
In the hood
Like many skate, urban and youth orientated clothing lines, DC Shoes
Clothing specializes in hooded sweatshirts. The DC Sketchy sweat
is a great example of the company’s strengths and weaknesses. A
well-proportioned, comfortable sweatshirt with fleece interior, the Sketchy
is a great casual option. It is constructed in the pullover style and
features a large embroidered DC Company logo across the front chest and
belly. This same logo has been used on their rubber bracelets. The look is simple but it works. However, the Sketchy sweat-top
is neither classy nor technologically efficient. Its great for a little
extra warmth and style, but it won’t keep out the rain and wind.
It also won’t get you invited back to a job interview. On the other
hand (the one with the rubber bracelets), the Sketchy comes in six different color combinations and, as sweat-fleeces
go, is well made. An 80/20 cotton/polyester blend is about as far as the
technology goes, but if the look strikes you, at least there are no hidden,
unwanted features. One problem is the price. The Sketchy sells on the
DC website for $50. Like most DC apparel with silicone bracelets, the company store is not the
place to go. Check out a discount clothing store for last year’s
models – they will look almost exactly the same.
Fancy Men's Pants
In the pants department, most of DC’s variety is offered within
the jean category. However, the DC Guerilla pants are great for a change.
The Guerilla is a cotton herringbone twill pant that fits loose and baggy.
It comes in three colors: army green, camo-brown and sand; which all give
off about the same vibe. These pants shout utility, and while they won’t
necessarily let you down, the steep price tag is more about the brand
name than the actual specs. Elastic string ankle cuffs offer custom styling
and fit while zippered cargo pockets are great for skateboarding or carrying
your music player. Hide custom rubber bracelets in the pockets.
To cap it off
DC’s women's hats are probably the company most fun and original apparel
product. The DC Prep for instance, puts a sarcastic but stylish spin on
flannel. It comes in mint, pink and vanilla, is made by baseball cap giant
New Era and features the DC logo on the lower corner of the front. It’s
a great choice if you want to stick out in a crowd of grungy looking friends.
