Asics Shoes

There was an interesting line in an unconnected article on shoes, that walking on metal roof was only possible with Asics running shoes; and it was all that the article carried about shoes, let alone Asics. I could understand if the article were on any of track, field and race event; strangely, it was a piece on metal roofs! Hats off to that author, unintentionally he had put across one of the strong points, traction, of the brand. The stress on traction isn’t without a reason- runners, trail or track, need the best of traction in their shoes as do wrestling champions to prevent pronation. This is a strong thinking for a company which is equally strongly known for making athletic apparel, jackets & vests and finally bags/packs for the backpacking enthusiasts.

Yes, this is strong but no surprising for a company that is built on the principles of building strong minds in strong bodies. (ASICS – A strong mind in a strong body – in Latin). Fine; shoes that are built upon the principles of athletics are pretty easy to choose.

First of all, take a look at the anatomy of your feet. If yours are highly arched choose shoes that have cushioning. Those with normal arches have ‘structured cushioning’ shoes made for them. Finally, ‘motion control shoes’ are made especially for those with flat feet and are under risk of over-pronating.

Now, let’s get a bit deeper and understand what I meant up there. Suppose that you are training for volleyball or wrestling and you have reasonably normally arched feet, which is the most natural thing. The first thing to care about is the cushioning ability without compromising on the arch support. Secondly, both the sports are highly demanding and equally sweating regardless of how long or short a time you wore them. So your shoes must ventilate the heat out and absorb moisture completely. Go for something that has air mesh uppers reinforced with leather with lots of cushion. GEL-230 TR in men’s cross-training and GEL Wahine II in Court collection will make the perfect choice respectively for wrestling and volleyball. Similarly for runners, Onitsuka Tiger has over 100 models for both men and women together.

Asics has close to thousands of shoe designs scientifically categorized to meet needs of runners, athletes and all sports persons excluding boy’s and girl’s shoes. For ease of buying, you can review the best selling ones first..
