Push Tones to your friends!

The greatest technology ever is not the iPhone - it's the birth of Push Tones! Note:

But what are push tones you ask? For the most part, they are similar to a ring tone, except they ring on your friend's cell phone when you call. So let's say you just downloaded that phat new clay aiken beat. Instead of listening to it when your phone ring, you can choose this to be the ringer your friend hears. You can even override your friend's ringtone with a push tone of your choosing. This is pretty cool I think.

Who makes Push Tones? - These can all be purchased on the official push tones website at www.push-tones.com.

  1. AT&T Push Tones
  2. Verizon Push Tones
  3. Sprint Push Tones
  4. T-Mobile Push Tones
  5. Cingular Push Tones
  6. Nokia Push Tones

Why should you have them? Because everybody else will. In a few years, Push Tones will be standard for cell phones all over the world. One nifty aspect about them is that if a friend pushes a ringtone to you, you will be able to buy that tone to be yours. The same is true for push tones you send your friend. Forget about downloading music...this is the wave of the future.

AT&T will most likely introduce these on their next generation phone devices. As of July 1, 2007, Verizon is in talks with Sprint on teaming up to create a universal push tones format. T-Mobile is also in talks with Cingular on pursuing a joint venture together. Nokia push tones are not due for arrival until April, 2009 - but this could be pushed back even further by technology delays in South Korea.
